    Default Gym Pet Peeves

    There are certain things that people do - through ignorance, rudeness or just plain old stupidity - at the gym that really annoys me. Gym etiquette is not rocket science, it's just common courtesy, consideration, and common sense, but a lot of people at the gym seem to lack these basic character traits/attributes.

    So, what are your gym pet peeves? I'll get the ball rolling by listing two of mine:

    1. People who put their mobile phone on a bench whilst they work out on another bench - using up two benches! If I have to ask someone if I can use a bench because they have their mobile on it again, I think I'll drop a 50kg dumbbell on it from a height.

    2. People who curl in the squat rack. My gym has only one squat rack, I shouldn't have to wait to do squats whilst some doofus is doing curls there, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!

    The mobile on the bench is grrrrr indeed. I hate the people who turn up wearing shades and a hat! What the fk is that about? If you want to follow gym fashon get some stars and stripes baggies and a stringer vest lol. Oh and when people go on the equipment your blatently using while your resting without asking you first. ( normally polish) no offence my polish brothers!

    i do hate it when people refuse to use a different machine (which they could yse when you need the equipment they are using for its sole purpose. for example i wanted to do squats, hence needed the squat rack, but a guy was doing shrugs in it. we have a smith machine, dumbells, 2 shrug machines, 3 bench presses they could rest the bar on, loads of different ways to do shrugs and only one place to do free bar squats. yet he wouldnt move. it really annoyed me.

    other than that i HATE teenage rugby players. for some reason they are all under the impression they are all massive and strong when they are infact just plain fat.

    The same fat teenagers who think bouncing the bar off their chest counts as a rep. Or throwing weights around when curling and screaming with each rep will give them big guns. I love and hate the DANCERS so much.

    meat head rugby players who need 6 sets of dumbells on the floor when theyre doing a set.
    people that walk next to you so youve got to stop mid set so you dont knock them out.
    groups of 3 in the gym that use one set of dumb bells for all the sets they do, and then they chat for 5 minutes inbetween sets!!!!

    i also agree with machine, why the **** do you need to wear a head sock when your in the gym!!!!!!!!!! also, not that im racist to any extent since my best mates asian, but when you get crazy asian guys that dress like theyre goin on a night out whilst theyre training, it makes no sense!!!!!

    All of the above.

    Sweaty members who don't wipe down the equipment after they use it.

    People who wear sunglasses in the gym! I really don't get that, I have seen this on more than one occasion.

    Mine is guys who make stupid noises when lifting light weights, sure if your squatting 150Kg+ make a little noise, but people who insist on making weird sounds when lifting regular weights are just embarrasing themselves!

    Mines a home gym as most of you are aware, mines gotta be driving home focusing on a good workout, pre workout kicking in. Then warm up half way through a set and someone trys starting a conversation with me

    I really hate walking into the gym and it looking like a bunch of monkeys have been randomly throwing the equipment round all day and no-one has made any effort to clear it up. Seems to happen all to frequently and you spend half the session trying to find what you want!

    Theres 3 guys at my gym who every saturday go on the smith machine for about 5 sets flat bench press, and 5 sets upper bench press they take absolutely ages all i wanna do is some behind the neck shoulder presses! I wouldn't mind but theres loads of freeweight bench presses, dumbells, and a few chest press machines! Also when theres 5 or 6 25kg plates on each side of the leg press, its a workout in itself just unloadin them!
