I am not sure of the solution to my shoulder injury but through the injury I now know prevention: warm up-stretch and keep good form.

An initial shoulder injury, you should treat with RICE (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation)

I did have a rest for a week but the problem is still there, I am just working round it at the moment but if it gets any worse I think I will visit a Physio for advice!

Did the rest deal myself still resting it really. Saw josh larges post about avoiding injury a little to late. Really good advice there.

Was debating seeing a physio in s week or so but wondering about acupunture, don't know if that will work?

I know Adam suggested a physio but it may be worth seeing your doctor first..then getting referred to a physio.
However if this is going to take some time then maybe just go and see a physio but they aren't cheap.
Can't say whether accupuncture will work or not..but not heard of it being used much for shoulder problems.

    hope it gets sorted.

Just don't like wasting the doctors time really. Will consider physio just got a few other things to fork out for first but will be on my list of things to do.

I wouldnt say you would be wasting the GP's time, that is what they are there for. Plus as Josh mentioned above, the chances are he will refer you for Physio and you don't have to pay! Only trouble is with the NHS, you could be waiting weeks!
I have never had or know anybody that has had Acupuncture so can't advise there mate.

I had acupuncture some time after damaging my shoulder (rotator cuff, deltoid, bicep etc) in a bike crash about 9 years ago. It offered some relief from pain for a few months, but didn't get rid of it completely. Also tried ultrasound & physio manipulation/massage on it without a great deal of success.

The biggest relief actually came when the long-head of my bicep tore up by the shoulder some years later!

I found the more muscle I put on my shoulders the better it holds together & stabilises it, although starting with some very light stuff (resistance bands etc) is probably the way to go.

If you have already injured yourself then you should definately go and see what your doctor has to say on the matter. You certainly won't be wasting their time.

Injuries that haven't been allowed to heal properly (either through proper retraining of the muscles or just because you didnt give them enough rest) can come back to seriously bite you in the ass at a later age.

Prevention (good warm ups, making sure you know your limits) is really the best solution for this kind of thing, there is no sure fire way of healing a generic shoulder injury as there are so many different things that can go wrong.

I've tore my upper left deltoid. Was one of the worst feelings ever. In particular hearing the tear and my ears popping and then blacking out, wow was in shock. 4 months of acupuncture...not good times.

WOW hayzey, that sound nasty. When my shoulder went, it was no where near as bad as that but I am still getting problems with it but soldiering on!
