Hey there, welcome to the Forum.
Supplements are used to supplement your diet, to make sure you have the required amount of nutritional intake to support your training regime. Without really knowing what your training plan and nutritional plan is, it is hard to give specific advice. If you get chance to post both plans, then I am sure you will receive some good advice.

Whey protein is a good supplement to start with, for any training regime. Whey protein provides the body with BCAA (branch chain amino acids) which is vital for muscle growth and recovery. Whey protein also aids fat loss, as the body works hard to break protein down and hence burns more calories. If you take a Whey protein supplement (such as Reflex Instant Whey) 30 mins to 1 hour before your workout, after your workout and then at another point in the day, this will help.

    Hey, thanks for the reply

At the moment I am concentrating on CV at the gym, hopefully to improve my cardiovascular fitness. I also do the odd weight to try and tone my body. I am overall just looking for a supplement which will help my recovery time after I have been to the gym as well as helping me burn fat.

    Many thanks

Hello, try maximuscle sculptress. i think this might be just what your looking for. remember tho a strict diet and training program will be required for any supliment to work. as The boy wonder said abouve. a suppliment only supports you in your goal. on its own its pointless. good luck

Sound advice bar the bit in bold mate.

The body doen't work much harder to break down protein than it does other energy sources. The reason protein 'aids' fat loss is that it is the building block of muscle and therefore enables us to keep our muscle tone, which in turn keeps our metabolism working harder 24/7.

Also a high protein diet keeps us feeling 'fuller' and saves us from reaching for the biscuits or crisps between meals (in theory!!)

Hi G and welcome to the forum! :0

Cardio and diet are the key to losing any weight you may wish to lose and it's great to see you recognise that weight training is important for toning. Lot's of people neglect weight training and lose out massively as a result.

As mentioned previously a protein powder may benefit your muscle tone and recovery. A good whey or whey blend will contain amino acids for muscle repair, and glutamine is an amino acid which affects recovery.

As for helping burning you to burn fat, there are various OTC (over the counter) fat burning products around which are primarily advertised towards men, yet suitable for women. Caffeine and Green Tea Extract are ingredients in most of these products.

Are there any particular products that you would recommend Wilks?

I haven't used fat burners myself (besides caffeien and green tea tabs), but have heard good things about a couple.

    Gaspari Mitotropin
    Lean Degree

In fact I've just had a look and Monster are doing a deal on PhD Diet Whey and half price Lean Degree atm.
