    Default Rotator Cuff

Has anyone had any experiences with rotator cuff injuries?
I think I have pulled something in my shoulder. Felt it yesterday on final set on flat bench, then went to incline flys and had to stop. It wasn't pain as such but felt like my shoulder wanted to click. Would it be best to rest, go light weight and high reps or concentrate on building the rotator cuff only?

Id try some light rotator cuff exercises, but maybe take a week of from doing any kind of benching completely just to be safe.

Was worried you might say that! Would you suggest staying away from shoulder exercise in general or just keep it light?

Strengthen up the Rotator Cuff first, but take a week off benching and shoulder work!
Then start off light when you go back into it.

Be sure to take joshes advice mate. i was shoulder pressing a few years ago and over rotated my shoulder. it felt like it came out of the socket. couldent let go of the dumbell and smashed myself in the head lol. i didnt pre prepare when i went back to training a few weeks later and ive had trouble with it ever since. i now cant perform upright row, or dumbell pullover without severe pain. i also have an uncomfortable time on bench. if i had someone like josh to advise me i wouldent have this handicapp. oh and a friend of mine had had to have a real painfull operation after going too heavy on military press and suffers the same. good advice josh mate.

    Hey guys,

Rotary cuff injuries are pretty common and many people suffer from rotary cuff problems. Usually when most people get pains in their shoulders it generally from the rotary cuff. This is because most of the upperbody exercsie involve the rotary cuff muscles, so they get strained alot.

The best way to avoid pains and injurys is to strengthen the rotary cuff muscles. The exercises that concentrate on the cuff are the internal, external and upward rotations, using cables and free weights. these need to be done using light weigthts with high reps. I do 4 set of 25 reps for each exercise and since i started doing them i've never pains in my shoulders

    Good post Joe,
I have really tried concentrating on this area because I have had a few problems recently. Hopefully strengthening the area will help! Good advice!
