Default post workout shake or wait for meal?

    Hi,

I'm in the process of trying to drop my body fat %. I'm doing weights 3 days a week, so i'm having a shake at a bout 4 and getting to the gym for about 5.30 and finished by 6.30.

Just wondering if i should hold off on the post workout shake and have dinner at 7 or have a shake and then eat dinner about 8.30?

thought it would be better to have the shake but don't wanna really add another meal to the day and not be eating dinner till late.

    Any advice appreciated.

    Cheers...

have a shake post workout. your muscles need the nutrients. eat another protein meal 1 hour later. dont have any carbs with your meal. fish and veg for example.

I would also try and eat your pre workout meal 1 hour before.
Post workout just have maybe 30g carbs and 50g protein then as Adam says have a meal around 60-90mins after your post workout shake like chicken, olive oil and veg, or fish and veg.

So would you say a banana 30g carbs and low carb shake post training?

Apples have something in them that helps with fatloss i was readin, but i just have berries before my workouts (train about the same time) cos theres less carbs so more chance u'll burn fat. Then have a recovery drink afterwards n then thats my carbs done for the day. N if u need energy before ur workouts just have 2-4 pro pluses an hour before, caffeine helps with fatloss aswel.

Definately make sure that you have a shake after training.

Your body is screaming for nutrients at that point when its trying to react
to the (good) damage you just did to it.

Then as others have said about an hour after you should try and eat properly.

As far as i'm aware, the only thing relating to fat loss and apples is that it's a catabolic food, meaning you burn more calories eating and digesting it then the apple contains.

Banana and a shake sound good post workout - although, you'll need to check what protein poswder your using to see how many grams of carbs it contains. If you are already using an 'all in one' such as Synergy, Cyclone etc then you may not beed a whole banana.

Also, dont forget to factor in the extra calories of the banana into your diet plan!

good luck and keep us psoted!
