Default 'OBSESSED'...what lazy people call DEDICATION

I just thought I would start a new thread on this, after reading Josh's signature:

Obsessed is what lazy people call dedicated people

and also, from reading Richdunn's experience with his flat mates, hiding his blender etc (see his blog)

I was just wondering what other experiences people have had with family, friends, randoms etc when they know you are bodybuilding or getting fit and spending alot of time in the gym and thinking about nutrition etc. What sort of comments have you had?

Personally, I have experienced comments such as "your becoming obsessed" or "supplements are a waste of money" or "so do you take steriods then?" etc etc. To be fair though, my fiancee and family are really supportive and she helps alot with the nutrition side of things and does her best to make meals less boring.

When I have told people about this Body Challenge, I have mostly been laughed at.....even by people in the Gym.

Having said all that, I actually couldn't care less about the stick I get, it actually spurs me on to achieve more.

i think to alot of my friends they would find it weird and obessive about my diet, the lads i live with now at first found it abit weird but they now realise i love the gym and my diet so therefore let me get on with it, they are pretty supportive, obviously they would tell me if it was getting out of hand i.e not doing coursewrk to work out, but i maintain a good balance and i think thats key as long as it doesn't stop you from doing important daily things e.g. work, i think people accept it and even admire ur dedication

My family used to think i was obsessed, but have now just become used to it.
So they dont say anything about it anymore.

Funny you posted this, I was thinking of something similar after getting a load of stick off a new girl I've been seeing recently! Comments along the lines of: that protein is bad for you, you spend too much time in the gym, you should do more cardio etc etc..... It does my head in a bit and it's usually coming from people who could do with a few more hours a week the gym themselves!

i only talk to people who train so it isnt a problem. if anyone said that to me id lock them in the gym until they either loved it or were dead.

in all seriousness though our love of training can be confusing to some people who simply havent had the enjoyment of trianing or seeing progression in their physique and appearance. it can cause problems with relationships etc if your partner doesnt train and doesnt understand why training takes up more of your time than they do. luckily my girlfriend understands lol.

I just love the ignorant people who seem to think protien and creatine are steroids lol. my personal experience isnt a bad one at all. my fieancee is very supportive of my diet and training. my step dad who was the isparation to train is supportive also. The important person my mum lol says that its natural for me to be into bodybuilding as all of her partners other than my useless dad were bodybuilders. She said that i was always going to be a gym monkey and she is very proud. all she and my fiencee ask is that i stay away from the juice because of some bad experiences shes has through its missuse. as for my friends there more interested in how to get into it untill they realise the work involved that is lol. its the other randoms that pass comment. sniggering behind your back. wispering conspiricy. why dont they say it to my face.........?...........because i would cave it in in an instant lol peace out brothers.

ive had jip from the get go to be honest, unfortunately little things get to me, the crap they say doesnt bother me that much it just gets annoying when they dont shut up, and they really have no idea what theyre talking about, the amount of times ive heard" stop eating so much, its bad for you "and protein just makes you really angry" the fact that i know what im doing and why kinda spurs me on like TJLEE said, in a way theyre ignorance does me a favour since i think ive got one over them

most of my friends are cool with it, in fact 90% of my close friends lift regularly.

we go into the club with skin fit shirts and grind on every hoe we see

my workmates seem cool with it too, my manager regularly approaches me asking me for advice etc.

yes i do get the steroid joke sometimes but its just friendly banter

but i defo agree on the quote about lazy people calling dedicated people obsessed.
Success = Hard work, motivation and dedication.
