retaining muscle mass is not down to how you train but how you eat. make sure you intake protein every 2-3 hours and eat small meals regularly. supplements like HMB, natural test boosters and BCAA's are anticatabolic so will stop you losing mass.

creatine wont affet your fat loss but will help you to retain some strength.

yes stimulating both fast and slow twitch muscle fibres is advised. doing jsut cardio can be quite boring as well so a good weights session will not only burn calories but keep the enjoyment level up.

i would agree with the boys on this. also i heard a theory that a good resistance session before cardio will depleat glycogen levells therefore making the cardio more efficiant at burning fat.

Very true Machine, which is also why people perform cardio before breakfast as they have fasted overnight so when they get on the treadmill they dont have to burn off the food they have just eaten.
