    Default Challenge any takers?

Right I've only really started my cardio in the last few weeks I'm actually slightly enjoying it once it's over with. My main way is jogging around my local field, last week on imapmyrun on the I phone I did just over 1.5 miles in 24 mins yesterday I managed 2.10 in 19 mins I was over the moon.

I'm now aiming to see how quick I can get two miles ran in. Wondering if anyones up for a friendly challenge? I've got no idea if that's a good time but a challenge will help motivate me and hopefully any taking part. Once I've hammered 2 miles for time gonna see what sort of distance I can do. My shin splint seems to ease right off after about half mile to a mile.

    Anyone interested just post below.

This morning i did 2 miles in 11 min 43 secs, running at just over 6 min mile pace. Thats on undulating terrain around my camp here. Not trying to 2 ****s you bud but there is an aiming marker. Anything under 14 mins would be a very good time. 1.5 mile is a standard army test, where my fastest time is 8 min 14 secs. I average around 8 min 40 now im getting older and lift the weights.

I missed the no armed forces bit out ha ha. All jokes aside you guys/girls could probably run backwards the same speed as me. Looks like I got a target to aim for now then

If i'm running and pushing myself around 8min mile pace is my aim, 6min mile pace is quality! Guys I work with are really competetive with their running pace. It doesn't really bother mean that i'm one of the slowest!
If its true you only go around once, you might as well go around with really big biceps.

If I keep going for the two mile mark and aiming to get quicker will it burn more calories than if I was to run slower for further and longer? Just thought cause if I can do it quicker my cv becomes less than 20 mins.

The army use 1.5 miles are there assessment distance. A trained infantry soldier has to do it in less than 10.30 (even less for Airborne and Commando trained Soldiers). They have a points totime scoring system. 10.30 seconds = 70 points. 10.35= 66 points etc. If your interested in dropping to 1.5 miles ill post the scoring system. It changes for age and gender so there is no discrimination.
