Default can i workout twice a day?

i know most people who train twice a day are on steroids ect, but im thinking of doing upper body every dya in a body split so chest n tris on monday and thursday , back bicep tuesday fridayand shoulders traps on wednesday and saturday and have sunday off. but do legs and stomach ect at night time during those days and do the upper body in the day time? is this ok or is it over training?

Depends how many total sets your doing i spose. I do a push legs pull routine twice a week with a days rest inbetween, 12 sets for back and quads, 9 sets for shoulders, chest n hamstrings, and 6 sets for everything else per workout. So it works out you'll do slightly more sets than you would on a 5 day split over the week but slightly less per workout.

I don't think you'd have issues. As long as you focus on isolation of each muscle group worked. Also make sure you don't have inter working bodyparts ie shoulders and chest too soon after each other. Also the same for back and biceps. These bodyparts need to be trained in the same session or 48 hours apart.

I would not say that most people who train twice a day are on Steroids! Whilst I have never or will never take them, you have to be careful assuming that anything you see in the gym that looks out of the ordinary, is attributed to Steroids because the chances are they are not. An excellent diet plan and expert knowledge of training and recovery etc would allow someone to train twice a day in a completley natural way. You will be surprised what can be done with the human body without the use of Steroids, check out some natural body building websites!!!!!

In answer to your question....if your diet is spot on and you do not neglect your post workout recovery, then yes I believe you can do an upper body lower body split in the same day!

i would not be doing it twice a day every day. example chest and triceps on monday with 12 sets for chest and 8 for tricep and then monday night would be a legs session. but then tuesday would be shoulders and traps but no later leg session. the leg session would come every 3 days? so i wouldnt be training twice a day evryday

ive done a similar split in the past. i did a heavy day and a light day for each so did heavy compounds on one and more of a pumping isolation day for the other. i didnt really notice much in the way of size gains but my strength did improve.

i personally dont see it as over or under training. it depends on the intensity you train at. if you were to train upper body heavy and intense in a morning and then legs heavy and intense on a night then you may struggle, unless you jsut ate and slept all day. however if you do legs on one of your light days then it shouldnt be a problem.
