    Default Extra calories

for the hard gainers out there it can be very difficult to get your daily calorie requirements in. does anyone have any secret methods they use to get those extra vital calories.

i always put mild olive oil (pretty much flavourless) into my shakes. 3 tablespoons have nearly 400 calories of good monounsaturated fat.

another good one is wholegrain (nutty) bread. a loaf of that has 2200 calories and loads of protein and essential fats. good stuff.

so what do you guys use when mass building to pile on the pounds?

if your really looking to gain its not always easy to get "clean" calories, nuts and seeds are good sources for fats & calories. I choose pumpkin seeds and cashew nuts, porridge for breakfast too. Oh and shakes with oats and fruit mixed in.

I invested in a coffee bean grinder, it turns pretty much anything into a fine powder. It makes for easy mixing of oats, barley, flax seed etc. Add a couple off eggs and protein powder and you have a healthy, high calorie drink with too much bulk.

I got a mortar and pestle for grinding up flax seed.

I then chuck my morning shake (see the above post) into an electric blender and blend everything together.
