I started back when I was 17 - I was living above a nightclub, and my main social circle were doorman. Lots of them were trying to either put size on, or cut back getting ready for a handful of competitions. I was quickly put off though, most of them were churning through roids - not a good place to be.

I have been on and off ever since then, its only now though im beginning to see the gains in my training that I want.

I wish I knew what i do now back then, I could have made soooo many gains lol - I guess looking back in retrospect is easily done though.

I started working out in the gym regularly when I was 18 and had left home to go to uni.

Girls are a great motivater for a young man it seems.

But I didn't really get into training properly until I was about 22 when I met some guys at work who where really into it and got me hooked as well.

Been training for a week off for a year for years. Always wanted to be bigger and ripped but was to busy ****ing about to try. Almost did roids when I was 17 cause was hanging around with two big butters and felt even smaller, heard about bitch tit, losing your cock and needing other drugs to counteract it and decided against it.

Only really been trying to train as much as I can since joining the forum so at a guess 3-4 months.

Started when I was 17 - messed around for like a month when I was 16 but have been training for 5 months straight now, I don't count the month or two of working out once or twice a week doing random exercises lol

So looks like most people here are new comers to training really, cant say much differently for myself, I can remember benching about 50kg when I was 13 and was impressed (was watching my older brother at the time and his mates training at home) but I was always one to sit in on the internet more so than most people, knowledge is power and all that ;). So never really got into lifting seriously until the January when a couple of friends from uni mentioned the gym and it was finally in a price range I could afford comfortably with no contract! With my dedication i'm half tempted to spend big on a nice gym with luxuries as i've proven i'm more than committed to my training. My reason for getting to the gym = Serious waistline expansion whilst in my current 4 and a half year relationship. Felt like I had chest pains every time I ate a greasy pizza lol. Gone from semi decent body to a nightmare! But it happens so quickly. My goal has to been strip weight and build some lean muscle, I went straight into advanced training routines really and made a great loss of 3 stone and good gains in 3 months but I was on seriously low calories. I then spent about 4 months on a 45/35/20 c/p/f ratio and lost about 6lbs or so if that but dropped about 5% bodyfat. I'm now on a first keto diet (tried in early teens but without training or more knowledge) hoping to strip about 10-15lbs off fat or maybe more depending on how I look. But that will leave me at about 12.5-13 stone... smallest i've been since I was literally 13. lol. I really can't wait to bulk up and add a couple inches to my arms, define a chest and see my abs, although I have a feeling my best attribute will be quads, despite having disappeared over the past few years. I always had thunder thighs lol.

As for a reminder of what I was last year (seems impossible looking back at pictures) I still have the stretch marks, some between 1-1.5cm wide and about 4 inches long across the majority of my waist. They're pretty sick, but they are never going anywhere. I seriously used to feel like I could feel my skin tearing... and i'm pretty sure thats exactly what it was!

well i was on and off the gym since i was 17, and i got serious about my wieght training in February this year.
As an avid runnner I cant say im looking to get massive, that would really effect my running, but being as strong as you can be is a massive help.
One of my larger mates just got back into the gym and im pleased to see im lifting the same sort of weights he is!not that you'd think it looking at me! :)

I started when I was 25 and have been training for 2 months. I'm still 25. I also studied biology and nutrition as part of a diploma for a year, so you could call that psychological bodybuilding :D

I've always gone through phases of training...wanted to be a royal marine when I was 16...trained like a demon and failed the medical....got fat, went travelling, got fit (more through backpacking round 3rd world countries and not being able to afford to eat enough calories! :) ), came back and worked in a bar then an office - got fat....reapplied for marines when i was 22, couldnt run half a mile, could do 4 press ups and half a pull up. 6 months of hard graft and i got in the marines. Left the marines last year - went abroad lived a party life for a few months, got fat, came home, unemployed, got fatter, laboured for a mate, got stronger but constantly ate takeaways etc and drank so stayed fat....moved, met a girl, got fit but kept weight on due to drinking/eating out all the time. Split with girl - girl got back with her x (he's ripped)...the red training mist descended and I started to strip....lost 2 1/2 stone in 2 months and am now about to start the 10 week challenge. I've been eating to put on excess to see better results so at the moment I'm fat fit! :)

oh and I'm now 28
