Right guys, im ever so slightly confused and was hoping the good old kindly chaps of FF may be able to solve this for me (i think its obvious and thats why im confused because it is never that simple)!

I am planning for lean muscle gain and i am going to carb cycle my diet (wont go into the whole thing). My high carb days are 105% of my maint level and come in at 3570 cals/day.

This equates to 595 cals per meal (6 meals), which i have adapted as follows:

0730 M1 - 695 Cals (86g carbs, 52g protein, 15g fat)
1015 M2 - 595 Cals (74g carbs, 45g protein, 13g fat)
1245 M3 - 595 Cals
1530 M4 - 695 Cals(PWO)
1830 M5 - 595 Cals
2130 M6 - 395 Cals (90 mins before bed) (49g carbs, 29g protein, 9g fat)

The thing that is scaring me after spending the last 8 weeks cutting is consuming the 49 g of carbs 90 mins before bed. In fact the though just makes my skin crawl.

Am i being an obsessive cutter?

Should i just man up and down the carbs or should i stick clear of the night time carbs as i did on the cut?

As a guide im now 87.4 kg, 9.6% bodyfat at 6 foot 3 with a 32 inch waist and i would say im an endo-mesomorph (ie i gain fairly easily but can put on fat easy if i dont watch those carbs - and this is what im worried about).

Cheers, as always

I personally don't have carbs before bed. I find that pre-bed, 2 scoops of casein gives me my protein requirements (42g protein, 3-5g carb) and doesn't send me to bed with a stuffed stomach. Plus I waken not feeling ravenous as if I'd had nothing or a simple whey shake.

If you need to up the cals/healthy fats, add in some EVOO or Udos Oil.

I concour with the boys. It's pretty simalar to my situation. I'm steering clear of carbs after 6.

I will be doing exactly as Wilks....2 scoops of PHD Blend 6 hour approx 30 to 45 minutes before bed, with water! I wouldn't want to be consuming that amount of carbs before bed. I aim to get the carbs in throughout the day and mainly before 4pm

Another one here to agree with everyone else lol, although once or twice I have had some Reflex Instant Mass before bed.

Hope things are gud up at 'CG' Gaz.

Ok, i have been doing some research on carb cycling and from what im reading i think i am going to go for a 3 day high calorie, 3 day low calorie diet. On the high Calorie days i will go 105% of my maintenance and on my low calorie days i will go to 85% of my maintenance level.

Has anyone got any experience on this type of routine?

has anyone got any opinions on this approach and would you do it differently? If so, then please help me out.

Cheers

i personally wouldnt go below maintenance if trying to gain lean mass. yeah i see the pont that you may burn some fat but i personally would jsut go for it mass wise. stick to 105% maintenance and see how you go. make sure all calories are necessary and from good sources. NO CRAP food and no drinking. dont have carbs before bed as its not necessary. havea good serving of protein and some essential fats. i would just see how it goes dude. if you put on some fat in the first month then rethink your strategy but in my opinion a couple of pounds of fat is not the end of the world
